When someone is considering, purchasing a television their main attention is on the price. When looking at the television sets, the Plasma TVs have a tendency to cost a little less than then the LCD TVs of similar sizes. Between the two televisions there can be a difference in price from 200 to 500 dollars. According to Lincoln Spector an important factor for this value difference is serious competition and the struggle for sales between Plasma and LCD TVs, which has Plasma producers feeling a lot of pressure (2009). Even though the Plasma television is inexpensive the varieties to choose from are limited to LG, Panasonic, Samsung and Sanyo. The LCD TV is manufactured by many of those companies and many secondary brands as well, so even though they are more expensive the costumer has a variety from which to choose. Consumer Reports conducted tests and came to a conclusion that the color saturation on Plasma sets are better than LCD TVs while displaying excellent details on fast motions. When choosing between Plasma and LCD the individual has to take in consideration the lighting within the room they have chosen to put the TV (Easdown, 2011). The LCD TV is brighter than the Plasma so if the room is darker the LCD would be the best pick. On the other hand Plasma TVs have a deeper black and stronger contrast which results in the theater screen kind of image ,however, that theater image can cause a your energy bill to increase due to the amount of energy needed to produce that image. Many customers often go for the bigger screens before realizing that the bigger the screen the more power the television will need to operate correctly and that in my opinion is the most important feature to consider when purchasing a TV, the Power Consumption.. So next time you are out shopping for a TV do not be bamboozled by the size, but yet take into consideration what it take to maintain the quality of the TV you are about to purchase. There is no question that both TVs can deliver a great image, but which would fit the budget and ones needs.
